WELCOME
We are very happy to bring to you, for the very first time, a Singapore Film Festival in Melbourne (and in fact, Australia). This festival aims to showcase a growing breadth of films that have been made over the short period of Singapore’s cinema history. We acknowledge the surge of the arts some ten years ago and the expanding avenues for Singaporeans to tell creatively of their culture and personal stories. Today, we celebrate the diversity of films that span genres, languages and themes. It is with great pleasure that we present to you the Singapore Film Festival, Melbourne 2010.
The SFFM is a not-for-profit project, started by three Melbourne-based individuals with a passion for film. This festival can thus only be possible with the support and sponsorship of various organisations, societies and individuals. Firstly we are thankful for the Merlion Club, our auspice and integral partner who willingly share their resources and input. We are privileged to be sponsored by Contact Singapore and the Victorian Multicultural Commission. We thank all who have partnered us, those who have come in to offer suggestions and to help in small ways.
We hope you enjoy the film selection this festival, 4 to 8 September.
